Week 1 (28-09-2007)

Lecture: Introduction to (multimedia / social media) design issues within the Web 2.0 paradigm; design of interface, of content, of functionality; design for a purpose. Understanding the paradigm shift from Web 1.0 to Web 2.0: web-as-platform, web applications, web services, user-generated content and the ‘social web‘ (blogs, wikis, other participatory sites). Overview of the syllabus and structure of the module; identification of key web resources.
